Since its formation, the district started evolving into a cultural hub, showcasing various museums and artistic legacy of the area. Today, Mount Vernon Maryland is one of the lively neighborhoods with a strong sense of community, preserving its heritage and embracing modernization.

Things to do at Mount Vernon Baltimore

1- Walters Art Museum 

A remarkable center of art and culture, Walters Art Museum is where I enjoyed the most. Walking through an array of immersive and engaging exhibits, I was so captivated by the creativity and art from 7,000 years ago. Besides, another fun thing about the Walters Art Museum is the free entry. In addition, the must-see attractions at the museum include:

  • Ancient Egyptian and Roman Art
  • Asian and Islamic Art
  • European and Baroque Art
  • 19th century and contemporary art
  • Byzantine and Medieval Art

Moreover, the exhibition of more than 3600 objects from multiple cultures and regions was such an amazing experience that I couldn’t get enough of exploring this place.

2- Baltimore Washington Monument

A 178 feet tall historic landmark, designed by the renowned architect, Robert Mills, Washington Monument is one of the best places to visit in Baltimore. Furthermore, the building was built in the honor of America’s first President, George Washington, and has been the point of attraction for many tourists. Plus, the key highlights of the monument are:

  • Monument’s gallery with engaging exhibits, highlighting the history of this place

3- Peabody Institute and Library

  • Peabody Conservatory – one of the most prestigious and oldest music schools in the United States

  • Peabody Library – one of the most charming libraries in the state, six-story stunning piece of architecture

To boot, the Peabody Library is where I spent the most time because there is an extensive collection of around 300,000 volumes. Moreover, you can find everything from art to history, science, and literature.
