Moreover, the city has preserved its nautical heritage, offering a memorable experience to all maritime lovers and history buffs. Without any ado, let’s jump right in exploring the captivating and must-visit places in the beautiful city, St. Michaels. Additionally, I will share a story of a three-days memorable trip to this historic city with my family.

Trip Initiation and Arrival

With the orange and yellow hues painting the morning sky, our family packed our luggage and set out for an adventurous embankment to St. Michaels. All of us were thrilled and buzzing with bondless excitement. The journey went seamless and exciting with all of us laughing and chanting throughout the traveling.

After waiting for four hours in traveling, we reached the Inn at Perry Cabin, one of the most lavish resorts in St. Michaels. The place is renowned for its hospitality and kind services while surrounded by beautiful scenery. The hospitality of the staff left us in an awe. We took a quick nap in our comfortable suite. The mesmerizing view of the Miles River from our windows was the best thing about booking that suite.

Day 1: Delving into the Essence of St. Michaels

We enjoyed a savory breakfast at Inn at Perry Cabin while relishing their picturesque waterfront view. With our breakfast behind us, we were all eager and thrilled to start the adventure of our first day in St. Michaels. We first went to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, exhibiting a dynamic display of hands-on activities for people of all ages.

The adventure commenced with the first visit to Hooper Strait Lighthouse, where children eagerly climbed the stair, pretending to be the keepers of this lighthouse. Then, we headed towards the Watermen’s Wharf to get an insight about the legacy of the historic fishing industry at Chesapeake Bay. Furthermore, the most fun and exciting part was exploring the vintage boatyards. The meticulous craftsmanship and restoration of old vessels by skilled boaters amazed, discovery multiple things around.

Deciding a dining establishment for lunch was a big task because we wanted to opt for the best dining places in St. Michaels to explore their culinary wonders. After reviewing hundreds of positive comments about Ava’s Pizzeria & Wine Bar, we decided to have our first lunch there. Undeniably, their wood-fired pizza and the taste of regionally sourced ingredients was the most delightful part of of the lunch. Coming towards their drinks, kids enjoyed their fresh lemonade while my husband and I opted for their locally-crafted beer.

As the sun started coloring the cloud with dark hues, we went to enjoy the sunset at Patriot Cruises, perfect spot to enjoy Chesapeake Bay beauty. No doubt, this was the most magical sunset experience with boats waving gently on water and the sun going down slowly while spreading beautiful hues on the sky.

Day 2: A Day Filled with Adventure

After enjoying a good sleep of 9 hours, we were all energized to start our second day at St. Michaels. Our day 2 was dedicated to unwind the scenic nature trails along the tall green trees and waterfront scenery. In addition, the beautiful views offered us chances to spot a few local wildlife, the most exciting thing for kids. They enjoyed capturing their photos on camera while my husband and I adorned the peaceful surroundings of this place.

Our next destination was Sail Selina II, a private sailing charter to discover more beauty of nautical history. We took a ride on a yacht, an intimate and the most adventurous experience of our second day. The captain taught us some sailing techniques while kids were thrilled turning the steering of the boat with the captain. After an unforgettable sailing experience, my husband chose an iconic seafood restaurant, The Crab Claw. We really enjoyed feasting on their steamed crabs, oysters, crab cakes, and grilled fish. Furthermore, the waterfront seating with a casual and comfortable ambiance made our dining experience delightful.

Our next mission was to explore some local shops and relax ourselves with some shopping therapy. The most fun and high-quality shops were Chesapeake Trading Company and Silver Linings. Moreover, the kind staff and unique collections of home décor and jewelry made these places our favorite shopping spots.

After relishing the delectable lunch, we decided to take a leisurely walk around Talbot Street, exploring the alluring gift shops and boutiques. Kids were delighted enjoying the mouthwatering ice-cream of Justine’s Ice Cream Parlor.

For dinner, we chose Bistro St. Michaels, as we heard a lot about their savory cuisine and exceptional services. Surprisingly, we experienced much more than what we have heard of them.

Day 3: Goodbye Day with Exploring History

Our last day at St. Michaels was all about discovering the history of this city. We decided to explore St. Michaels Museum at St. Mary’s Square with a guided tour assisting us throughout our exploration. Walking down the rich history and historic landmarks of St. Michaels, the guided tour told us about many fascinating stories from the colonial past.

Enjoying the fresh seafood for the last time in the city, we sat down at Foxy’s Harbor Grille for our last lunch. Their crab pretzel, fish tacos, and shrimp salad were a hit. Besides, the waterfront seating and calm atmosphere were the plus points.

Before bidding farewell, we decided to visit The Classic Motor Museum. The most fun part was exploring many vintage cars and a new collection of high-technology vehicles.

Before the dark prevailed, we packed our bags and settled in our car to start our journey back to our home. Saying a final goodbye to the city, we took a last ride along the vibrant streets of St. Michaels in our car. The beautiful sceneries and calmness of the city combined with the best food made our trip memorable and adventurous. From enjoying sailing to exploring the lively streets and culinary delights, our tour to St. Michaels was filled with the best moments to cherish for life.
