Day 1: Reaching and Settling down

Our family planned an adventurous trip to Annapolis to witness the historic charm and picturesque waterfront views. Reaching Annapolis on Sunday afternoon, we were delighted by the beauty of historic homes, vibrant streets, and beautiful beaches surrounding the city. We were so excited to visit the best attractions in Annapolis, as we heard many fascinating stories about the beauty of this colonial city.

After settling in and resting for few hours, we were all ready to take a stroll around the neighborhood of our rented house, Airbnb, near Annapolis city center. We stopped at a local parlor to have some ice cream and refresh ourselves in a hot summer day. Additionally, the welcoming atmosphere and lively vibes of streets were cherry on the top during the walk. As we all were tired after a long traveling, we decided to head back to our place and gather energy to start an adventure-filled day the next morning.

Day 2: Exploring the U.S. Naval Academy

Our first day in Annapolis begun with a visit to the most historic and renowned place in Maryland, the United States Naval Academy. The most excited among us was my husband, a historic buff, trying to capture every monument’s beauty in his phone. We decided to participate in a guided tour to understand each and every detail and deep insight into the Academy’s legacy.

The tour guide gave an overview of several architectural landmarks including Naval Academy Chapel, Bancroft Hall, U.S. Naval Academy Museum, and Crypt of John Paul Jones. Kids appreciated the ship models and artifacts in the Naval Academy Museum. Moreover, hearing tough routine and witnessing the training of midshipmen depicted their commitment and services for the nation.

After exploring the whole academy, we set down at the Alley Restaurant to have our lunch. Kids ordered burgers and fries while my husband and I decided on the savory crab cakes. Getting back our energy, we ventured into downtown Annapolis and wandered around the historic streets of Annapolis, relishing the stunning view of harbor.

Day 3: Gliding through the Chesapeake Bay

For the next day adventure, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay was on the top of the list. My husband booked a cruise tour on the Chesapeake Bay, marking it one of the most memorable experience of our trip. The gentle and cool breeze, clean sky, and beautiful boat, everything was perfect to enjoy a thrilling day on water. Furthermore, our tour guide and sailboat captain, John, explained many fascinating facts and historic background of Chesapeake Bay. Kids went all excited when he let them steer the sailboat.

We were just out of words after witnessing the striking beauty of the Chesapeake Bay. Spending half an hour, the kids felt like eating something and we enjoyed a picnic while gliding over water. The gentle boat waving, the peace and calmness in the surroundings, and the remarkable views of water make this day an ever-lasting memory. As we headed back, the striking scenery of sunset with red and orange hues left us in an awe of nature’s wonders.

Fifth day welcomed us to explore the Eastport, a lovely neighborhood of the Spa Creek. We didn’t heard a lot about this place, but our visit made us realize that it is one of hidden treasures in Annapolis. Additionally, the place has very positive and lively vibes. Then, our subsequent destination was Annapolis Maritime Museum’s Eastport campus. Moreover, we joined a family-friendly workshop, educating us about the marine life.

Next, Eastport Yacht Club fascinated us, as we experience their community event which was open for public. Kids were thrilled when they got a chance to sail small boats, while my husband and I enjoyed the beautiful surrounding and calmness of this place.
