The Stone Ridge School Trio from Maryland Stole the Swimming Show at the Paris Olympics Games 2024

In riveting competitions from 27 July to 4th August, the steller and aspirational trio, Katie Ladecy, Phoebe Bacon, and Erin Gemmell showcased exceptional performances. Boastfully, these Stone Ridge School alumates have made the state and their hometown proud in the best possible way.

Furthermore, appearing in her fourth Olympics, Katie Ledecky made Olympic history by garnering the ninth gold medal. On top of that, she earned four medals in seven days of the Paris Olympics games 2024. She broke her own record of most-decorated American female swimmer with most Olympic medals (total 14).

Additionally, she competed in the 1,500 meter freestyle on 31 July and succeeded to collect gold, setting another benchmark in the swimming world. Later, she entered the water on 3rd August for 800 meter freestyle race and came out with another gold medal.

In the 4×200 m freestyle relay, Ledecky and Gemmell captured the silver, adding more happiness to fans and supporters in their hometown. Furthermore, in the Women’s freestyle race of 400 meters( 2024 Olympics), Katie Ledecky was honored with a bronze medal.

The head of Stone Ridge School specially traveled to Paris to applaud the former students. Moreover, he remarked that these alums are a great pride for the school and are an inspiration for the coming generations.

The hard work, determination, passion, and consistency of these Maryland athletes have made them come this long way. In addition, more than 2,000 T-shirts of Ledecky, Gemmell, and Bacon are purchased by the friends, family, and Stone Ridge Gators.

A rally on 25th July was conducted for three former graduates (Ledecky, Gemmell, and Bacon) at Stone Ridge School, Bethesda, Maryland.

They were all energetic to witness the striking victories in Olympic 2024. Besides, the social media platforms are all full with congratulation messages for the winners and the hometown.

Thea LaFond from Maryland: First Woman to Win Olympic Medal for Dominica

Thea LaFond, native to Silver Spring, Maryland, represented her Caribbean nation internationally at the Paris Olympic Games 2024. She is the first Dominican woman to secure a gold medal in women’s triple jump, becoming a pioneer for her nation.

Furthermore, she set the national record of a jump at 15.02 meters, the first woman in this Olympics to hit 15 meters. Additionally, nature was in her favor, as the rain showered in the stadium and turned the situations challenging for Shanieka Ricketts and Jasmine Moore. On the other hand, Moore is also the first American woman to win a medal in the triple jump.

Fortunately, LaFond surpassed the final jump and celebrated the historic victory in the Stade de France stadium. The streets of Maryland and Dominica are resonating with her glorious achievement.

Maryland Olympians Qualified for the Quarterfinal of Summer Olympics 2024

Maryland athlete, Masai Russell, strike the time period of 12.53 seconds in the opening race of the 100 meter hurdle. Gladly, she secured the position in the quarterfinal of the Paris Olympics Games 2024.

However, she will be going to face the strong contenders in the finals, including Alaysha Johnson and Grace Stark from America. Johnson is a challenging competition, as she has the best record of 12.31 seconds.

Moreover, Tobi Ausuman from Nigeria, Janeek Brown from Jamaica, and Maribel Vanessa Caicedo from Ecuador have also qualified for the quarterfinal and compete with Russell.
