Annapolis Crab Festival 2024 Highlights: Event in Maryland

by support

The 79th annual Annapolis Crab feast was scheduled on 2nd August 2024. The timing was set from 5-8PM at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium with an all  inclusive menu. People in Maryland were all excited to attend this “Crab Festival 2024” because it’s a wonderful occasion for all busy bees to sit and chat with their loved ones on a beautiful evening.

The Rotary Club of Annapolis hosts the world’s longest running summertime traditional festival, “Annapolis Crab feast”, every year in August. Thousands of guests appear at this Maryland event taking place in Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to socialize and enjoy the “All-you-can-eat” feast.

I always wanted to attend this crab feast, as I heard a lot about this event from my friends and colleagues. So, we decided to go to this event in Maryland this weekend.

Here, I will be sharing some notable highlights and key features of the Annapolis Crab festival 2024 that we experienced and enjoyed immensely.

Steamed Crabs with enticing menu at Annapolis Event

In this most anticipated summer event, the guests were served with crabs, corn-on-the-cobs and bayside bull barbecue. Additionally, they treated us with beef barbecue sandwiches, watermelon, baked sweets, and plenty of beverages and soda drinks for refreshment.

When we entered the venue, we realized that the volunteers at the event had already prepared trays with five crabs in each before the guests appeared to serve them without any delay.

I asked one of the Rotary volunteers about the quantity of crab served this year. It was not shocking to hear about 185 bushels of steamed crabs provided through the Chesapeake Seafood Caterers this year.

The event organizers set the table for more than 2,000 guests this year, providing a comfortable and enjoyable environment to the residents and visitors.

Chesapeake Seafood House workers, known for their impressive management, were there throughout this crab festival to cook and serve food. They were wearing blue shirts and installing two tents outside the sitting area to make crab trays and guide visitors. However, the Rotary Club volunteers were in red shirts and yellow aprons.

More than a dining experience: A community gathering for a meaningful cause

Along with hosting the people of Maryland, this crab festival contributes to raising funds for local communities and charitable organizations.

The financial gains from tickets, donations, and sponsorships are also used for non-profit organizations and scholarships for deserving students.

In 2023, the Rotary Club gathered $31,000 from the crab feast and seventeen well-deserved organizations were selected for donation.

My friends and I made an effort to contribute a bit in this humanitarian service by donating some money for social enterprise.

In addition, the money from baked food items, tickets, T-shirts and caps, and raffles will also go in total fund collection. According to a rough estimation, the Rotary Club is expected to gather $50,000 this year.

Furthermore, the Rotary Club works with the non-profit environmental group called Annapolis Green to ensure the event is a “Zero-waste”. It involves recycling the plates, glasses, cups, napkins, and other cutlery products.

Adding more to this, the organization also endeavors to recycle 20,000 pounds of crab shells and watermelon rinds, and corn cobs, taking responsibility to turn waste into good for environmental sustainability.

Community efforts and volunteer engagement: Success behind Annapolis Crab festival 2024

The reason behind the successful event of Crab feast every year is the enthusiasm of the local community and volunteers.

Their efforts made the festival a fun and memorable evening for guests traveling from various locales. The head accessories and T-shirts were made for people and staff to fully enjoy the environment of the crab feast.

In Annapolis Crab Festival 2024, around 150 workers landed a working hand in making this largest crab event fruitful. The executive members from Senate and Congress spoke to the people about many social issues at the crab festival 2024.

Moreover, the residents, event organizers, and community fellows put their utmost efforts to serve the guests. They were playing a significant role to make arrangements, cook delicious foods, and after-event tidying and sanitation.

We were so delighted to see people donating wholeheartedly for the needy and taking steps for the betterment of society.

Parking at the stadium was free, but no cutlery or eatables were allowed inside the event. We were advised to follow the rules and etiquettes of the event to avoid any mishap or misunderstanding.

The management team placed ice buckets and large fans for people to remain cool because the temperature rose to 100 degree Fahrenheit in the afternoon.

Summing up, it was really a relaxing and fun evening with my friends. We got some time to enjoy each other’s company, eat steamed juicy crabs, and gossip after a long time.
