by marco

Situated on the western seashore of the Chesapeake Bay, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland is one of the most scenic places to visit with friends and family. The town is filled with multiple recreational destinations. For example, from water parks to splash pools and best dining places, it offers numerous water sports and activities. Here, I am going to detail a three-day trip to Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, exploring the best food places and not-notch destinations.

Early Departure and Drive

We planned to leave for the Chesapeake Beach in the early morning to arrive soon and utilize the day exploring places around the town. So, we packed our bags and put them in the car with some cookies and snacks because kids wanted to have breakfast in the car. Everyone was excited for the upcoming adventure in the water town. After entering the town, the gorgeous views of Chesapeake Bay delighted and we were stunned witnessing the surrounding beauty.

Day 1: Touring around the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum

Surrounding the original railway station, the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum offers a historic insight into the colonial past of the town. Moreover, the striking collection of paintings, artifacts, photographs, and other exhibits allowed us to learn about the historic story of the foundation of Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum. Furthermore, kids were amazed watching the old train models, built in the early 20th century.

For enjoying the best seafood of the town, we sat in the Rod ‘N’ Reel Restaurant, exhibiting a beautiful waterfront seating. Additionally, their fish tacos and crab cakes were incredibly tasty and everyone loved it. The lunch was perfect to gather energy for our next adventure.

Next, we decided to explore the Bruce Snake Gabrielson’s Surf Art Gallery and Museum. The place features several artifacts and historic things from the surfing world. Furthermore, the museum has multiple skateboards and signed posters from surfing experts and legends. On top of it, we were delighted to spot many photographs and artwork from surfing professionals and surfing photographers.

Our last stop for the day was Traders Seafood Steak and Ale, one of the most amazing dining establishments in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Moreover, the hospitality, staff, services, and food, everything was so exceptional, making us feel like home. The dining experience at Traders Seafood Steak and Ale was full of happy moments, laughter, and good culinary experience.

Day 2: Indulging in Adventure

The second day started feeling the freshness in the air and the soothing voice of waves. We decided to dedicate our second day indulging in adventurous activities and exploring local adventures in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.

One of the most famous water parks among families, the Chesapeake Beach Water Park, was the first place to visit on our second day in the town. To boot, the park offers multiple activities for young people and kids, such as water slides and pool games. Besides, kids couldn’t get enough of speeding down the water slides and enjoying the lazy river. Furthermore, you can find many shaded areas with tables and chairs to relax and enjoy a picnic.

For lunch and picnic, we headed to North Beach, a short drive of one mile from Chesapeake Beach. The place offers stunning sandy shorelines and captivating beach and picnic areas. We located a beautiful and shady site on the beach to enjoy the snack we took with us in our food basket. Moreover, kids really enjoyed playing around different games and making new buddies.

One of the most adventurous and memorable part of our tour was the fishing charter. My husband loves fishing and sailing and booked a guided tour with a fishing charter from the local charters in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Specifically, the team was very kind and knowledgeable, telling us the maritime history of the Chesapeake Bay. Additionally, we were thrilled catching some fishes and enjoying the sunset on the water.

Day 3: A Day for Relaxation and Nature exploration

The third day was our last day in Chesapeake Beach and we decided to enjoy it in by exploring natural beauty and experiencing the relaxed ambiance there.

The first visit was planned to the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa to relax ourselves with their spa treatments. My husband and I enjoyed their extensive spa services while kids were delighted playing in the pool and arcades. Furthermore, the beautiful setting and waterfront location made our experience memorable there.

After rejuvenating ourselves, we decided to go hiking along the Chesapeake Beach Railway Trail. The scenic hiking trails surrounded with woodlands and marshes presented a very alluring scenery. Moreover, the trails are designed for all age groups to experience the natural beauty of this place.

Lunch was decided on The City Sliders, a well-established dining place near North Beach. The ambiance and diverse range of menu made our dining experience unforgettable, allowing us to create many memories.

For a final stroll in the Chesapeake Beach, we went to Chesapeake Bay Marine and walked around admiring the scenic views. At Marina, there are many shops and cafes, so we decided to buy some souvenirs and enjoy a refreshing coffee.

We chose Abner’s Crab House for our final dinner in the town. We enjoyed their savory crab dishes in a family-friendly environment. Heading back to our hotel, we packed the luggage and decided to say goodbye to this beautiful town.
